JGate ToolBar Installation Guidelines

1) Click on Download J-Gate Toolbar link provided on the header page 
after user is successfully logged into the J-Gate site.

2) After the user clicks on the link mention in the first step, a windows
dialog box will open with title "File download - Security Warning". On that
click on Run button.

3) If you read the following warning message after you click on the Run as mentioned
in the previous step

The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software?

Publisher: Unknown Publisher

Click on Run button.

3) This will start installing the toolbar application. Please wait for sometime for 
installation to complete.

4) After the installation is complete, Internet Explorer (IE) will automatically restarts
and will retreive all the existing opened IE windows with J-Gate toolbar enabled.

5) After successfully installing the toolbar application, J-Gate site will be set as
the Default homepage so that user need not type in the JGate URL to visit the site.
In case user wants to change the Default homepage setting, they can do so by going to
Tools->Internet Options menu of the internet explorer.

6) In case you are not able to see J-Gate Toolbar after successful installation, 
right click on the space above the address bar of the internet explorer and 
select J-Gate Toolbar from the dropdown menu (context menu).

7) If you are installing J-Gate toolbar on a machine located in your institute's 
premises which is IP enabled, you will not be required to store any username/password
for accessing J-Gate.

8) In case your institute is not IP authenticated, i.e. you have username/password
based subscription, you need to make one time configuration settings before you
start using the toolbar.

Configuration Settings

9)Click on Settings button present next to J-Gate logo and just before the search text box.
This will open a small window with the title "Settings".

10) Select Product name as J-Gate from the dropdown list. Enter username and password provided
to your library for subscription access.

11) Click on Save buttton to update username and password for the selected product. This
will display message "Username/Password updated successfully!". Click on "OK" button.

12) This will display a dialog box with title "Apply updated Username/Password?" and 
message as " To apply the updated Username/Password open new IE window. 
Shall toolbar make it automatically?". Click on Yes button.

13)Clicking on "Yes" will open new IE window automatically. If you click "No" button, you
are required to open it new IE window manually.

Now you are ready to use the J-Gate toolbar application!

Type your search term and press enter or click on the Search button next to 
search box to search.

Note: For user convenience, the J-Gate Toolbar will appear on Windows Explorer bar also
and a shortcut for J-Gate site will be generated on your desktop which can be used open 
the J-Gate site.
